Just before Christmas last year, my cousin asked me if I could take some photos of her daughter. Me, having in mind to set up this website already for a while, and trying to scrape bits and pieces together to collect some content to fill this website, eagerly said YES!
However, I had never shot children before in a studio environment. This would be my very first… Reading up a little on the internet I decided to use 1 softbox and 1 umbrella and one reflector to get the lighting right. Only problem with children is, they don’t usually stay in the spotlight for a very long time and like to run around the place rather than look at you, when you tell them to.
It was quite a challenge. But just as with Street Photography, with Kids Photography you shouldn’t be shy! Funny faces and making weird sounds to (try to) get the shots you want, are mandatory with children. But I think all and all it turned out pretty well in the end!
… Well, at least Ilvy was very happy! 😉
